National Parks

Our family went to Rocky Mountain National Park and Horsetooth Mountain Rocky Mountain National Park the last weekend of summer. First we went to Rocky Mountain. We hiked 1.8 miles to this beautiful lake called "Emerald Lake" There we saw a waterfall and met Alvin and the Chipmunks! I (Nick) was the only one to swim in the lake. The moment my head touched the water I got an headache. There was at least ten magnificent views. It was amazing!

On Horsetooth we hiked to this waterfall and climbed and got wet. It wasn't huge, but it was cool. Sam thought it was the coolest thing. Jasmine kept on throwing rocks into it. Mari, Wendy, And Jose loooked at it. Josh and I climbed above the waterfall. So we all had a our own thing. Oh by the way, Jasmine had a censor tag. :)

Whoa what a summer!

We have had quite the fun filled summer. We started it off with the move to Wyoming. We have sure found a treasure trove of places to see and visit here in this beautiful state. One of our favorites was the Oregon Trail Ruts where you can still see the wagon ruts in the sandstone. We also were amazed by the names of pioneers carved along the sandstone walls from the 1800's. Quite an experience.

Our travels this summer took us to Arizona. We had a great time hangin' with family and lots of swimming in the Arizona heat. To have all the cousins together was such a nice treat. We have the greatest family. We also celebrated the baptism of Andrew Porter. It was such a happy day. We have so much to be thankful for.

Summer is almost over for us, but we have so many colorful and remarkable memories. Hiking in the beauty of Wyoming, visiting family we hadn't seen for so long, and just enjoying one another. School is starting in a couple of days and with it so many more wonderful experiences and pictures to share!

We went up the coast a little further and found it to be like little Sweden. Beautiful and quaint villages set up against the coast of the Lake. It was so much colder than Duluth and only about 40 min. north as well. Some of us were not as prepared as others with our cold weather attire. Josh and Nick were seriously cold and had to go to the bathroom to boot. (I did tell them before we left they might need a light jacket but they assured me they did not.:) Mom's always know best. Luckily I was able to get a quick picture of the lighthouse with the kids. My fingers were numb and Jasmine was crying but at least I got the picture.

Our Trip to Lake Superior

Duluth despite what you might have thought, was a beautiful city. Very nice people who did have a strong canadian-type of accent. Lake Superior was impressive to say the least. It was huge and stunning. Jose and I had a chance to walk along the boardwalk at sunrise and take in the beauty of the sun rising over the lake. It was a bit cold, but we were decked out in our Nebraska sweatshirts proudly displaying our cornhusker pride, that kept us warm.
